5 Ingenious things you should know about Simba Hybrid® Essential:

It’s simple really: we’d love to help you sleep soundly and comfortably, so we use all the latest engineering and technology to do so. So have a read about all our unique and patented innovations; at the very least, your new scientific knowledge will impress your friends…

1/ The Simba microspring comfort layer:

These tiny cones of comfort will transform your sleep

These are the key to our incredible, upper comfort layer; they’re our pride and joy. They’re smaller and slimmer than the typical, rather tall and bulky bed spring, because they’re made from super-strong titanium; using this magic metal means even a micro size (25mm high with a thickness gauge of 0.9mm, which is the size of a very thin paperclip) gives you the support you need, but being so small and fine you won’t feel a single one.

You’ll find up to 1,500 of these ingenious springs nestling in our essential mattresses; each individual Aerocoil® spring flexes gently in response to you and your partner’s movements, offering personalised support to each of you without disturbing the other. And as they compress and extend with you, they gently push air through the comfort layer, helping to keep you at just the right temperature.

2/ The fresh feel of foam:

For pitch perfect temperature control

Being too hot at night is an absolute no-no for great sleep. That’s why we designed our fantastic Simbatex foam; it’s an ‘open cell’ foam, which allows thirty times the airflow of memory foam (that’s almost breezy for a bed). On top of that our sleep scientists have infused it with a naturally occurring mineral called graphite; this draws heat away from your body.

And you thought foam was just, well, foam? Not in our book.

3/ Four layers of engineered comfort:

Four layers? Yes. And every single one has a part to play in helping you sleep better. Designed to tackle overheating (with up to 30x the airflow of memory foam) while also layering on the comfort.

4/ Tested & trusted CertiPUR® foam:

PRO-PLANET CERTIPUR®VERIFIED

All the foam we use in our mattresses is CertiPUR® recognised, meaning both the materials it contains and the emissions it releases have been independently and rigorously assessed; CertiPUR® foam is verified as free from CFCs and other ozone depleting substances, and ensures lower emissions to protect indoor air quality.

In addition, you can rest easy knowing that all CertiPUR® foam is free from added phthalates and harmful metals such as mercury or lead, and includes safe, non-toxic levels of fire retardants.

5/ Engineering new ways to cut waste:

For Simba, protecting the planet is as important as restful sleep.

We’ve used our expertise to reduce our use of energy and materials, and all our mattresses are 100% recyclable. To prove the point, we’re proud to tell you that any old Simba mattresses returned to us are refurbished or recycled; they never go near a landfill site. Ever.

On top of that, all our mattresses are made here in the UK so unlike other brands they don’t have a long journey to make it to you, and all our packaging is up to 60% recycled, from approved FSC sources. We’ve even worked out that we can use any excess foam in things like carpet underlay or pet beds rather than letting it go to waste.

We reckon that’s not half bad for a bunch of sleep experts like us.

Nothing wasted:

Reduce, reuse, and recycle; this applies to us like everyone else. So we’ve made sure every component of our mattresses can be recycled, from our foam comfort layers to our tiny Aerocoil springs; similarly, any leftover foam is repurposed into other things like dog beds or carpet underlay. Our target is zero waste, so we’re committed to making recycling easier via improved design, as well as more informative and extensive customer support. But so far, we’re proud that all the mattresses returned to us already receive a second lease of life; they’re either recycled, or refurbished and redistributed through our Ebay outlet (so if you’d like to be on the front line of our recycling effort with us, you know where to go).

The right materials

We’re using our engineering expertise to identify more environmentally responsible materials: so far we’ve removed as many pollutants as we can from our foam, we use sustainable wood, our textiles are OEKO-TEX certified (a safeguard against harmful substances), and we’re using more recycled materials (even plastic bottles) in our packaging and products, in accordance with the Global Recycled Standard (GRS). We’re also part of the Better Cotton movement (BCI), which works to reduce the environmental impact of cotton production. But we know we can do more: we’re sourcing FSC certified wood, we’re swapping even more new materials for recycled ones, and we’re developing new, responsible foam technologies... The work continues.
